apparently not sleeping enough can interfere with memory, energy levels, mental abilities and emotional mood I agree wholeheartedly.
memory: at the moment it's like a fish (why do they say that, I'm sure its a myth, goldfish are not that bad, maybe dori from nemo is more appropriate), two second memory seriously, today a patient got offended cause I forgot there name!!! Please I barley remember my own name.
energy levels: yep at the moment they are at a low level, so far I have had one cup of coffee and one cup of tea, cold might I add, and the caffeine has done nothing for me.
mental abilities: hmmmmm, I have to admit my brain is not functioning correctly at the moment, I think I'm using 2% percent of it, just barley living more or less, ooooops there goes my oxygen mask....
emotional mood: some would argue that because I am of the female variety then emotionally we are unstable (not true), at the moment though a timer is ticking and I may just explode or fall asleep right here on the desk and I couldn't care less if I was caught- bring it on...
also other signs are:
- irritability - oh yes without a shadow of a doubt.
- blurred vision - I need glasses anyway so no surprises there!!
- slurred speech- jhdfjkhfncjkhdfjkhsdf - translation - just a tiny bit
- hallucinations- I would like to say that I am seeing headless people everywhere but its not that severe, only thing I can think of is I am answering the telephone when its not even ringing!!
- increased blood pressure - ok I'm gonna go and take it....
- faster aging- oh my god I have white hair!!!!
- slowed reaction time- ................................................ oh yeh
- yawning- its my second name
- daytime naps- I wish..
so do you fall into any of the above categories, if so call blah blah blah number and they will send a special delivery of a punch to knock you out to cuckoo land of sleep.....

Try power sleeps. They work wonders!!! I'm off for my daily nap now.
i recommend a tank of qahwa arbia ,after that every thing will be OK.be careful with the patients don't send them to false section.
to be honest I'm always look like sleepy even if i slept 14 hours ,its nice feeling .
I had the same problem recently and fell into all of these categories, infact I even fell asleep at work, I went out and bought 2 cans of Red Bull, that night even though I thought I would sleep like a baby, I could not sleep at all and I am sure it was the red bull so do not drink too much of it, it really is bad.

Power naps are small sleeping sessions that range from 5 minutes to 20 minutes.
The art is to sleep in an uncomfortable position....that way you are very likely to wake up during that timeframe.
Afterwards, I assure you, you will feel refreshed.

ema i wish i could sleep, se ei though i would be really good and go to bed at 8pm tonight, so i switched the light of and did i sleep? ............ no, my family makes to much noise, i now find mysel sat infront of the computer wishing sleep and drinking hot milk with a hint of honey (maybe just maybe i will drown myslef to sleep in milk)...

I must look really exhausted, customers actually asked if I was ok and my colleagues kept asking me if I wanted to sit down!
Almost fainted a couple of times - but not me no! I just stumble and looked clumsy instead - never fainted in my life. Reckon my body doesnt know how!
I have so much to do - dont think I'll get too much sleep tonight either. Ugh!

lebeeyah welcome back, we missed you girl, hope you have been well and not suffering from sleep deprivation.
i work at a doctors surgery so i should have picked up some sort of mumbo jumbo lol
Alhamdulilah I've never had any sleep problems up to now.
My solution is that you go for a walk or jog in the evening (that's what I do 3 times a week ). As for caffein (Red Bull included obviously )dear it works in the begining then your body gets used to it, so you have either to increase the amount or go cold turkey. For lack of sleep another solution would be what I use for my family when irritability is in seesion ie I feed them pasta with a very cheesy bechamel and mushrooms.
Try it WA and see the difference !
trabilsia thank youso much for that advice, the past sounds delicious, your right about the whole caffine thing, i guess my body is immune, time maybe to go all cold turkey as you suggested, though its gonna be hard caus ei depend on it so much for keeping me going at work
